Commissioned by Milwaukie Arts Commission, for Ledding Library in Milwaukie, Under a Sky Spread With Light pairs with Objects in a Stream. While both installations showcase local trees, Under a Sky also features the Willamette River flowing through town. Carved by hand, this river mural has its share of neighborhood leaves and branches. Cottonwood, dogwood, maple, and oak are backlit by a sky-blue hue. Leafy soundproofing above nurtures children. They can speak up respectfully in this quiet space, as they look up appreciatively toward Mother Nature. All ages can float downstream and enjoy the seasons.
